Philippines AI upskilling collaboration
DOLE, TESDA and IBPAP announced (reported 14–15 Sept 2026) a two-year AI-upskilling collaboration: 10,000 BPO workers to get direct AI training in 2026, with a further 34,000 upskilled through partner institutions — covering roles from AI data annotation and analytics through to clerical, finance, accounting and sales.
DICT joins in 2027 to fold this into a unified “Project Unlad” platform. Labor Undersecretary Carmela Torres framed it as workers needing to “upgrade the occupations” as AI restructures roles rather than eliminating them.
This is concrete, dated evidence that the Philippine talent pool is being actively invested in at a national level.
