A virtual assistant’s day is a focused one. Emails, campaigns, CRM updates, reports — the work is detailed, and most of it happens sitting at a desk. That focus is one of the things our clients value most, but we know what it can do to a body that stays in one position from morning to afternoon.
So this August, we introduced a weekly exercise session in the office. Once a week, the whole team pauses for a guided stretch and a bit of movement together — done right at their desks, no gym gear or change of clothes required. It is simple, it is light, and it takes only a short slice out of the day — but the difference in the room afterwards is easy to see.
The idea behind it is straightforward. Regular movement eases the stiffness that builds up over a long day of desk work, and doing it together — without anyone having to leave their workstation — gives the team a moment to breathe, reset, and share a laugh between tasks. It is good for the body and good for the mood, and it costs almost nothing to do.
For us, it is also a small statement about how we want to work. Looking after our people is not a one-off gesture — it shows up in the everyday, in the little routines that make a workplace feel human. A weekly stretch will not change the world, but it makes for a healthier, happier team, and that is exactly the point.
Why we started it
- ✓A real break from long stretches of desk work
- ✓Movement to ease the stiffness of sitting all day
- ✓A shared moment that brings the team together — no gym gear needed
- ✓A steady sign of our commitment to team wellbeing
It is early days, but the weekly session has quickly become a part of the rhythm of the office — and one the team looks forward to. Here is to more of them.
